Location: Hertford Salary Range: £21,693 pa progressing to £23,866 pa Hours: 37 per week Contract: Fixed Term Contract, ending on the 31st of March 2020 (with the possibility of extending) Job Duties: An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Corporate GIS unit to support the development and ongoing management of the Hertfordshire County Council Enterprise deployment of the ESRI suite, including application support (desktop and web), web services, spatial datasets and spatial analysis. The successful candidate should have at least one year of experience in ArcGIS desktop software. They will also have some experience of maintaining geospatial datasets. They will have some knowledge of Ordnance Survey datasets. Ideally, they will have studied GIS or a related subject, to a degree level. They will be able to follow processes and precisely. The will be excellent at communication. The University Centre of the Westfjords invites applications for two Master’s programs in coastal studies. These programs are located in Ísafjörður, Iceland.
The Master’s programs include Coastal Communities and Regional Development (Master of Arts) and Coastal and Marine Management (Master of Resource Management). The Coastal Communities and Regional Development program focuses on the development of rural and remote areas in the past and in the future, and includes coastal communities along the North Atlantic and the Arctic. Through the program, students will study the changes and challenges of coastal community development, and learn methods and skills to predict community development and management. The Coastal and Marine Management program is a multidisciplinary Master’s program in natural resource management. Through this program, students learn about coastal and ocean resources, their significance, and methods to sustainably manage these resources. To participate in the programme, undergraduate students must have completed two years of study in a relevant discipline by the beginning of June 2019. "The Bursary Programme offers opportunities for undergraduate students to strengthen their skills and knowledge in relation the marine sector. In 2019, the Bursary Programme will offer 8 to 12 week placements for up to 24 undergraduate students. The programme offers students practical experience in the areas of Marine and Freshwater Fisheries, Salmon Ecology, Environmental Data, Aquaculture, Oceanography, Benthic Ecology, Data Quality and Management, and Marine Communications, Education and Engagement. Successful students will receive a scholarship worth €275 per week, for the duration of the work placement.
