We wish to inform you that two berths are offered aboard the RV L'Atalante for postgraduate students (Masters and Doctoral) on the Eurofleets2 GRACO research survey as part of the training activities of the Eurofleets2 program. This survey will take place from 22nd September to 1st October 2016, embarking and disembarking in Cadiz.
The GRACO project focuses on the interaction between gravitational and contouritic processes on the Cadiz margin shelf-edge and upper slope. Scarps and valleys in this relatively unexplored region will be investigated in the context of oceanographic and geological processes to determine their interaction and model their roles in the evolution of the Gulf of Cadiz Contourite Depositional System. The positions are offered to European postgraduate students wishing to develop their experience in the following themes: ·Geophysics (bathymetry, seabed backscatter imagery and water column imaging (WCI), PARASOUND, deep-sea camera) ·Oceanography (ADCP) ·Geology (gravity corer and box corer). Applicant evaluation will be based on information provided in the online application form here and on this webpage. Applications must be made online by Friday August 5th at 18:00hrs(CET). Successful applicants will be notified by Friday 12th August. This programme encourages applications from postgraduate students from countries or regions with limited access to research vessels and associated infrastructure. Please note that ship-time is funded through Eurofleets2. All other costs, including travel and accommodation, will be paid for by the student. Further information on this survey can be obtained by contacting Dr. Marga Garcia at [email protected] For further information on Eurofleets training programmes please contact Dr. Andrea Caburlotto at [email protected] We would be grateful if you would circulate this notice to postgraduate students in your institute or agency.
