Alternative ways to apply We are seeking a Coastal Process Scientist to join The South West Regional Coastal Monitoring Programme based at the regional office at Plymouth University. The programme extends from Portland Bill in Dorset to Beachley Point on the Welsh border, including the Isles of Scilly. It involves monitoring, recording, data collection and analysis and will assist the long-term prediction of coastal processes. Your main functions will be to manage the collection of contract data and to receive, download, quality assure and analyse the coastal process data within GIS. You will also prepare and maintain appropriate scientific records, review analysed and historical data and carry out scientific reviews of the programme output. Applicants will need a relevant honours degree such as civil or maritime engineering, oceanography, marine science or environmental science. Experience in coastal processes, GIS or GPS surveying is desirable, however full training will be given. The role is on a Career Grade and the salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.
